What is StopScreenTime doing selling a screen!?

Since we started selling it, this is the most frequent question we receive. And we say “question” just to call it something, because many people say it to us in quite an angry tone, even offended by such an inconsistency.

Well, to begin with, a panel is not the same as a screen. A panel is the final layer of a screen, which protects it from scratches, among other things. The panel does not emit light by itself, but turns to the green colour of the drawing at the points where the pen passes, so it does not carry the risk to the eyes and mind that screens do due to their blue light emission.

Lastly, StopScreenTime does not intend to demonise screens. It aims to raise awareness of how dangerous it can be for children to have them as their main entertainment throughout their lives and to propose alternatives to reduce usage time.

The importance of reducing screen time

Affect eyesight negatively

Too much screen time strains the eyeballs and can create or worsen vision problems, especially in children.

The blue light emitted by screens is the cause, and it is more harmful when the screen is close to the eyes.

Difficulty concentrating

A large part of the content on social media (especially the content made for children) is designed to achieve the longest possible consumption time, which creates the habit of spending hours going from one video to another without using creativity.

If the brain gets used to receiving dopamine simply by looking at a screen, it becomes more and more difficult to have fun with activities that require effort.

Lower sleep quality

Prolonged screen use during the day keeps the brain active and makes it harder to switch into “rest mode” and stay there throughout the night (both in adults and children).
